Blogging: How to Get Started

Since technology can sometimes be baffling, I thought that there might be someone out there that might want to try blogging themselves.

See the step-by-step directions below. Not totally comprehensive, but you can get the hang of it pretty quick.

Start by visiting blogger.com and clicking Create a Blog. Blogger requires a Google account, so you either sign in first, or create a new account.

Create a blog title and URL. Click continue to choose a template. Click continue, then click start blogging.

There are 3 elements to your blog posts. A title will be used as the main headline. Consider making your title concise (3-10 words) and use keywords that you want to rank for in search engines.

Next is the body of the post. Use the Large size font for section headings within your post (good readability for the web), and the Edit HTML tab for advanced layout like tables.

Use your first blog post to tell readers about you and about the blog.

Finally, you must add an appropriate label for your post. Click Save Now if to save your post in draft without publishing to the website. Click Publish Post once the article is ready for live.

You can click Preview or View Blog to see your post in layout.

To return to your blog for your next post, simply login at blogger.com and create a new post, or edit your old posts.
