EOC Tip of the Week

Facility support: You can end up with literally hundreds of people working multiple shifts in a large EOC activation. Even if you don't have that size of a problem, you will need someone minding the store and taking care of facility issues.

What I'm talking about is making sure that there is toilet paper in the bathrooms, extra janitorial service for weekends and holidays that you are activated, maybe rescheduling cleaning so it can be done in the evening hours when things are not so hectic. Ordering office supplies, getting the copier fixed, etc.

There is also the care and feeding of the staff who are working in the facility. Having plenty of water available, healthy snacks (I like donuts in the morning!!), and more than pizza for all the meals that are served.

The folks who do this work are sometimes not recognized for all they do to keep the EOC machine running in top form. Plan for the position, and remember to thank them for all that they do.
