TechniGraphics, Inc., has updated their online geospatial service platform, Freedom Web, to version four (V4). The only service of its kind, Freedom Web provides service to authorized government personnel and emergency responders. Among the most promising uses for this service is emergency planning and response coordination. The enhanced functionality of Freedom Web V4 empowers incident commanders to create, edit and share maps of a crisis as it unfolds. V4 equips users with a custom mark-up tool called a whiteboard. The whiteboard, created in direct response to user feedback, grants multiple users the power to edit, share and watch critical data in near real-time. V4 features like whiteboard-watch simplify wide-scale collaboration during a crisis with automatic updates to your map when someone edits the whiteboard you're viewing. These features complement the community workspace of Freedom Web that in addition to whiteboards offers users the ability to edit information about important infrastructure, which are quality checked by TechniGraphics' technicians and posted live on Freedom Web. Freedom Web V4 is ideal for both emergency preparedness training and incident management.

I've not checked this out--so I can't vouch for it, but the price is right for government types to try it and see if this free service can help them in their preparedness training and incident management.
