I've been thinking about this a lot of late. Why do we have the problems we do? Certainly when issues present themselves we are not pleased by their being present in our lives.
On the other hand it is in the difficult times of our lives that we do grow in character. I'm a gardener and there are two contrary thoughts about staking young trees. Some say you should stake them so that they have the support they need while their root systems are developing. Others argue that the wobbling in the breeze strengthens them for the future and makes them stronger.
Sometimes we do need support mechanisms in our life to help us through the tough times when we don't know exactly what the right course of action should be. Generally these are people. Parents, friends, spouses, co-workers are the ones we can turn to.
Remember then too that the time will come for use to be the "stake in the ground" for someone else enduring some trial or tribulation in their life.
In the end, this may be a growth period for me. When I look back on this time in my life a few years from now I'll recognize the developments that made me stronger and the "stakes" who helped me through it all.
