Here in the Pacific Northwest, KIRO 710AM has been the mainstay of news and talk radio for many, many years. When you wanted to know what was going on concerning a local disaster, you'd tune into KIRO 710AM. So, the email text I got below shows "Nothing stays the same forever!"
"...just confirmed with KIRO Radio, that while 710 AM will be changing over to all sports in January, 97.3 FM will become all news. Hence, KIRO 97.3 FM and KOMO AM 1000 should be listed as the designated emergency broadcast stations [EAS] for our region starting January 1, 2009"
