Keeping with the "gun" imagery, I do prefer (when shooting) to take well aimed shots, which is slower, but more accurate. However, there is a place for what is called "suppressive fire" blasting away quickly in a general direction even when there isn't a defined target.
Too many times people and organizations are waiting for perfect information. While I would not bet the farm on a hunch, it is much better in my estimation to be doing something, rather than nothing. There plenty of circumstances when that course of action might be wrong, but blessed inaction is not what I'm predisposed to do. I like the idea of "doing" even if it wastes some resources and time. Sometimes in the "doing" you figure things out. I believe that too many people favor inaction because it comes disguised as getting by without putting forth an effort.
