Fisher Plaza is one of the most technologically advanced buildings in the greater metro area. Backup power, their own water well, etc. I even recommended it to the City of Seattle (way back when) as a possible location for their EOC, before they chose to build a state-of-the-art facility. So, when it caught on fire and disrupted the high tech companies that house their servers there it was a really BIG deal.
There are some lessons for all the IT professionals out there. I know for a fact that many, if not most, government data centers don't have the robust data backup plans that are needed for an event like this one. With moving to E-Government it is increasingly imperative that we have better planning and backup facilities.
