A byproduct unfortunately is it will also increase our vulnerability to cyber attacks. Some are pointing the finger at North Korea as the source of the latest outbreak of cyber attacks that happened just this week.
Countering cyber attacks will mean more cooperation between the public and private sectors. Stopping e-commerce is one of the goals of these attacks, and just about all of our commerce these days has a cyber connection of one sort or another.
I believe in an "all-hazards" approach, but for cyber you might have a different cast of characters in your EOC. Start building those relationships now so that you can practice before an event. Previously I shared how for TOPOFF 2 we had a pre-event that simulated a cyber attack and it was eye opening to see what it would take for people and organizations to start coordinating when they normally would be in competition, each working in their organizational silos.
