Cloud Computing

Instead of doing all your computing on your PC, you do it on the web. Google is a leader in this. [I have been seeing cloud computing quite a bit lately].

Cloud computing has democratized distributed computing. There is a wide spread industry adoption.

Amazon.com is the largest user of cloud computing. They do machines for rent by hour. Cool! It is on-demand processing power.

There is also simple storage service. Simple Storage Service (S3) Look at smugMug, which is like Flickr for storing photos. They are storing their data all on S3.

Cloud computing provides scalable, reliable and available computing.

The computing landscape is changing!! Aaron Kimball aaron@cloudera.com Another smart dude.

Think of Cloud Computing as "public storage" facilities that you put your personal stuff in. some people feel it is safe, others do not.
