While bootlegging might have been the crime of choice early in the 20th Century, we may see cyber crime in all its forms be the 21st Century menace.  See a Forbes article Into the Breach: Protecting the brand When Data Loss Is the New Normal

As we automate much of what we are doing and technology becomes more a part of business processes, critical infrastructure operation and yes, even emergency management we will need to be cognizant of the cyber threat.  I'm all for using technology in our discipline and for just about anything, but we need to be smart about it and ensure that appropriate protective measures are in place.  Indeed, just as change is moving fast so are those who would do us harm as a nation or as an agency and we will need to keep up with the new ways in which people can penetrate our networks and create havoc.

Just add this to the list of your "To Do's" as you implement new programs and technology.
