There are two management positions open in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The one I just posted and then there is the Bay Area UASI Assistant General Manager

The list of desirable qualifications is below.  What I think will become a new "desirable" in the future will read something like this:  "Experience in the establishment, management and reporting of performance metrics for public agencies."  This is going to be a hot topic beginning in 2012 and on into the future.  I recommend you start doing some professional reading and if classes are offered in the topic--sign up and attend.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures to improve the processes of delivering public services effectively and efficiently in a large public jurisdiction.

Experience establishing an organizational structure, monitoring staff assignments, and implementing administrative processes to accomplish agency/program mission and objectives in an effective and efficient manner.

Experience reviewing, recommending, and evaluating strategies for the financial and administrative management of grant funded programs.

Experience complying or ensuring compliance with City and County of San Francisco procurement, contracting, and grant regulations.

Experience using City and County of San Francisco financial systems such as FAMIS (the City’s Financial Analysis and Management Information System) and the EIS (the City’s Executive Information System).

Experience communicating with local, regional, state, and federal managers regarding organizational activities and issues.
