The Emergency Management Profession in Canada

There is a terrific survey that was done on the Emergency Management Profession in Canada

I thumbed through it on the train today and I was particularly interested in the backgrounds, age, education, etc. for emergency managers working in all levels of government in Canada.  For people considering a career it gives you a good feel for who your peers will be and the age separation can be daunting for newly minted emergency managers graduating from degree programs.

Personally I thought the percentage of emergency managers with a military background might have been much higher.  Many of the Canadian emergency managers I run into are former military and now with second careers in emergency management.  So, note to self, anecdotal information and experience is not always correct!

My thinking is that much of this data could be directly transferable to our situation in the United States.
