Conference Center, 4975 Alliance Drive, Suite 1N201, Fairfax, VA 22030 

 

Registration: STUDENTS MUST PRE-REGISTER. To reserve a seat register at OEM@fairfaxva.gov or call 703-273-6269 no later than March 30, 2012 with name, agency and e-mail. Please be seated no later than 1300.               

Audience: Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, Emergency Management, Healthcare, Military, Analysts and Public Safety Special Response/Operations Teams.

STUDENTS MUST BE A CURRENT MEMBER OF A PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCY OR MILITARY TO ATTEND AND MUST HAVE AGENCY I.D.

Mass Shootings: Planning and Response Considerations

REGISTRATION OPENS THURSDAY, FEB 16Th.

AM Session: Program for Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, Emergency Management, Healthcare, Military, Analysts and Public Safety Special Response/Operations Teams.

AM session on critical incidents such as workplace violence, school shootings, mass shootings, domestic violence spill-over attacks, terrorist threats and other incidents are occurring with alarming frequency. These events can occur in the workplace, business/industry, large occupancy facilities, college/university campuses, K-12 school grounds or other public locations. Course will cover the following topics:

  • Threat Assessments
  • Shooters (Schools, Workplace, Domestic Violence, Extremists, etc.)
  • Pre-Incident Planning
  • Multi-Agency Response Operations
  • Crisis Management 
  • Command Considerations
  • Scene Safety
  • “Lessons Learned”

Always an excellent tool/prep to run exercises (tabletop or functional) for planned/special events. We even did "sandtable" exercises prior to missions/taskings back in the "godo ol" days when I was in the Army at Fort Bragg.  

 

UK Plans Big Olympic Security Test in London

Britain is planning a massive Olympics security exercise this week centering on a mock emergency on the London subway system — a test that evokes uncomfortable reminders of the deadliest attack on the city since World War II.
