24th Annual Governor's Hurricane Conference

May 23, 2010 - May 28, 2010 | Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center

About This Event

The Governor's Hurricane Conference (GHC) is the largest hurricane conference in the nation. The primary purpose of the GHC is to improve hurricane preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation in the State of Florida and beyond in order to save lives and reduce property damage. The scope of interest includes all aspects of the hurricane threat. To accomplish this, the GHC ensures the annual program emphasizes the following:

  • Lessons learned from response and recovery from hurricane strikes in Florida and, when appropriate, other coastal areas of the United States.
  • State of the art programs and strategies worthy of emulation.
  • New ideas being tested or considered.
  • Awareness of new or ongoing federal and private assistance programs available to local government.
  • Emergency management's role and other key agency roles, in hurricane preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.

In today's economy and with strained travel budgets, the GHC is a tremendous training and education value. It is the goal of the GHC to provide a quality program to its attendees while maintaining registration fees that are affordable for all target audiences.
