Managing Digital Evidence and Assets: Separating Fact from Fiction

March 24, 2011 | The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa

About This Event

Managing Digital Evidence and Assets:
Separating Fact from Fiction

Emergency Management magazine and the Center for Digital Government invite you to participate in a special discussion:

In today’s world, public safety officials are routinely confronted by the challenges of managing and sharing evidence in a world that runs on digital devices and where unrealistic public expectations are formed by television shows like “CSI” and “Criminal Minds.”  How are you responding?

At this event we will discuss how:

  • Digital media and computers, laptops, flash drives, external storage devices, digital cameras and cellular phones have become central to the work of investigators, prosecutors and forensic examiners.

  • Digital evidence is being used to: document crime through photos, financial records, and electronic communications like e-mail and text messages; demonstrate intent or premeditation; support or refute testimony; reveal additional crimes, suspects or conspirators; and establish and prove complex relationships between people and/or events.

  • You can be prepared with the “best in class” tools and techniques available for collecting, evaluating, sharing, managing, storing and producing that evidence to ensure successful prosecution.
