Every two years the CTF announces that it will accept grant proposals for primary and secondary prevention programs for child abuse and neglect. The Grants Management Advisory Committee (GMAC) reviews the applications and makes awards. The application will consist of a two-step, online application process. Stage One will consist of applicant information, program summary, budget forms, and a fiscal management checklist. This stage must be completed online and submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010. Stage Two will include program narrative, outputs and outcomes, a budget summary, and an opportunity to revise forms submitted during Stage One. Stage Two must be completed online and submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010. Application Orientation Sessions (required) are scheduled in January and February of 2010. The Children's Trust Fund (CTF) is a State of Nevada program dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. It was established in 1985 by the State Legislature and is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, Grants Management Unit. The CTF is a special account that receives fees from Nevada birth and death certificates. In addition, yearly applications are written for funds from the federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention. The CBCAP grant award (CFDA 93.590) is funded under Title II of the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act for the following purposes: (1) To support state efforts to develop, operate, expand, and enhance a network of community-based, prevention-focused, family resource and support programs that coordinate resources among a range of existing public and private organizations, and (2) To foster understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of diverse populations in order to effectively prevent and treat child abuse and neglect. Both the Children's Trust Account and the CBCAP grant award are administered by the Department, with advisory support from the Grants Management Advisory Committee (GMAC). Grantees receiving these funds will be required to: (1) Attend quarterly meetings of Prevent Child Abuse Nevada; (2) Conduct client satisfaction surveys; (3) Support meaningful involvement of parents in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of prevention programs, and (3) Provide strategies for public awareness in the grantees' community. The GMAC focuses on funding programs that provide parenting education, self-protection curriculum for children, crisis intervention and respite care, home visitation, and public awareness. Overall priorities are for grants are: (1) Access to services; (2) Collaboration with other community-based agencies; (3) Maximization of federal funds; (4) Case Management (as applicable). Priorities for this program are (1) Parent Training; (2) Child Self-Protection Training; (3) Crisis Intervention; (4) Respite Care; (5) Public Awareness.
