The Foundation accepts grant inquiries in two ways: the most common is a Request for Proposals published by the Foundation throughout the year. Please check the Foundation's website for the most recently updated information to see which RFP may best suit your organization's needs; the second method for unsolicited grant proposals is to submit a Letter of Inquiry directly to the Foundation (details available at http://www.ddcf.org/page.asp?pageId=355).
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation offer grant funding in the areas of performing arts, environmental conservation, medical research, prevention of child maltreatment, and cultural preservation of Doris Duke's properties. Grants in the Performing Arts are awarded for the following: Artistic Creation and Distribution, Organizational Transformation, and National Sector Building. Grants in Environmental Preservation are awarded for Habitat Conservation and Climate Change initiatives that promote technological innovation and clean energy. Medical Research grants seek to support the prevention, treatment, and cure of human disease through Clinical Research and African Health Research. Child Abuse Prevention grants are awarded for efforts to develop prevention strategies, increase the existing systemic capacity to deal with the issue, and develop and disseminate knowledge based on research. Protected properties under the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation include Duke Farms in New Jersey, Shangri La in Hawaii, and Rough Point in Rhode Island. More detailed information on each of these individual areas of funding is available at the Foundation's website.
