Each year funding is set aside from the EMS and Trauma Care System Account (911 Funds), the Trauma Facilities and Trauma Care System Fund, and the Designated Trauma Facility and Emergency Medical Services Account, to support the emergent, unexpected needs of EMS providers of DSHS-approved organizations. Proposals are evaluated based on impact to the regional or statewide EMS/trauma system. Applicants are required to submit a written proposal documenting the recent extraordinary emergency event that has occurred and the impact to the service they provide. Applicants should also describe how denial of their request will affect their community, as well as any other types of subsidies their organization receives from the community. All applications must include the Extraordinary Emergency Fund Checklist (available at: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/EEFchecklist.pdf).
