Deadline Information

Applications will be accepted beginning August 26, 2009 and continue until the closing deadline of June 1, 2010, or until all program funding has been awarded. Applicants are encouraged to apply early but may submit their application during the August 26, 2009 - June 1, 2010 time period. The successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing within 30 days of receipt of their application using the United States Postal Service, registered receipt return mail.

Summary

The Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of EMS is seeking applications from individuals who are interested in receiving initial EMS education. The individuals will provide needed staffing for underserved areas of EMS service delivery in the state of Iowa. Funds will be awarded to applicants to assist with expenses associated with initial EMS education and training. Allowable expenses include course tuition, training program fees, books and course supplies, and testing and certification fees. Funds cannot be used to cover staff salaries and fringe benefits. Applicants may apply for costs associated with only one training course per application.
