The BioWatch Program is a cornerstone of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) comprehensive strategy for countering biological terrorism. The BioWatch Program is an early warning system that is designed to detect the intentional release of select aerosolized biological agents. The BioWatch Program's mission is to help deploy, sustain, and maintain a national 24/7 operational capability to detect, respond to, mitigate, and recover from a bioterrorist event. Financial assistance support for the program is being renewed and the period of performance extended for an additional two (2) years. DHS will invite eligible applicants and current BioWatch cooperative agreement recipients to apply for continuation funding through this program. The purpose and objectives of this program are very specific in nature. The distinct subject matter of this funding opportunity necessitates a thorough review of the official program guidance referenced at the URL provided in the contact section of this summary.
