The purpose of LPG funds is to support and improve the development of the Texas Emergency Health Care System and increase the availability and quality of emergency pre-hospital health care. The typical projects that are funded through the LPG program include (but are not limited to): (1) EMS personnel certification training; (2) Specialty training related to pre-hospital healthcare management; (3) Communication equipment; (4) Patient care equipment and non-disposable supplies; (5) Injury-prevention projects; (6) Continuing education programs; and, (7) Purchasing of ambulances. In FY11, for the first time, LPG funding was approved for accreditation fees paid to CoAEMSP and CAAHEP by department-approved paramedic education programs seeking initial CoAEMSP accreditation.
