The purpose of the program is to develop the metrics to evaluate the various components of community mitigation interventions, and to identify sentinel communities where evaluations would take place. This program addresses the "Healthy People 2010" focus area(s) 14. Immunization and Infectious Diseases; and 23. Public Health Infrastructure. Measurable outcomes of the program will be in alignment with one (or more) of the following performance goal(s) for CCID/NCPDCID: (1) People prepared for emerging health threats; and/or (2) People in all communities will be protected from infectious, occupational, environmental, and terrorist threats.
