Applications are due November 30, 2010.
Funding under this grant program will help local and state government agencies become compliant with NIMS and ICS requirements. Compliance with the federal requirements will improve the state's ability to respond to all hazards emergencies whether it is local, regional or statewide. The purpose and objectives of this program are very specific in nature.
In order for Incident Command System courses to be eligible for reimbursement, they must teach the basic system outlined in the NIMS version 7.1. Training on other types of Incident Command System will not be reimbursed. The courses listed below are from the Emergency Management Institute and the National Fire Academy. First responders that have already taken ICS training that consisted of the previous versions of the identified curriculum will not need to be retrained. Incident Command System courses taken through independent study or Internet based will not be reimbursed.
The courses identified below are eligible for funding. If a course is not identified below and the applicant would like the course to be considered for funding the applicant should call Michael Jordan at the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance, 608-261-7529.
It should also be noted that IS-700 series, ICS-100 and ICS-200 will no longer be eligible for funding. FEMA offers these courses online. Also, in light of campus security needs, EMI is developing an ICS for Institutes of Higher Education course that will be available soon and considered for funding.
