Approximately $1.8 billion in fiscal year 2010 Homeland Security Grant Program funds are now available, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Thursday, July 15. Highlights include $842 million for the State Homeland Security Grant Program and $832.5 million for the Urban Area Security Initiative funding. The grants also include $39.3 million for the Metropolitan Medical Response System Program to improve mass casualty incident preparedness in 124 MMRS jurisdictions around the country and $48 million for security of the U.S. Southwestern border.
