The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International released a draft of a proposed national standard covering the training for public safety telecommunicators. Changes proposed in the standard, Candidate APCO ANS 3.103.1-200x, include requiring agencies to provide training on handling calls pertaining to missing, abducted or sexually exploited children, and handling calls from children. The standard, released at the end of August, is open for comment until Sept. 26. Comments should be sent to standards@apcointl.org.
