Chicago Mayor Richard Daley on Thurs picked Jose Santiago to lead the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, the Chicago Tribune reported. Santiago is an assistant deputy fire commissioner with the Chicago Fire Department, long-time firefighter and former Marine. If confirmed by the City Council, Santiago would also be the city’s top authority at disaster sites.
