On Wednesday, Dec. 16, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder released a report calling for a single, standardized framework for marking, safeguarding and disseminating sensitive but unclassified information across the federal government.
The report was the work of a presidential task force comprised of representatives of 12 federal agencies both inside and outside the Information Sharing Environment. In addition to the report containing 40 recommendations on how to improve information sharing between all levels of government, Napolitano and Holder also announced their agencies will set up program management offices to help facilitate the implementation of the reports recommendations and information sharing between the federal government and state and local authorities.
More information and the full report are available from the DHS Web site.
