Attendees at a public hearing on a plan to strengthen the structural integrity of a dam on Lake Lowell in Idaho said the money would be better spent elsewhere, the Idaho Press-Tribune reported. The proposal would strengthen the dam, making it harder for terrorists to blow up, and keep open the road that runs over it. Opponents said the proposed measures wouldn’t keep determined terrorists from breaching the dam and the estimated $8.4 million cost would be better spent elsewhere.
