Mississippi Emergency Management Misspent $18 Million, Auditors Say

A bill by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General says the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency misspent nearly $18 million in Hurricane Katrina reconstruction grants. It includes money spent on grant management and overpayments to local governments for debris removal.
