FEMA has extended the National Dialogue on Preparedness until Sept. 10. Interested parties can leave their comments at preparedness.ideascale.com. Input from the dialog -- which began Aug. 5 and is hosted by the Department of Homeland Security's Local, State, Tribal and Federal Preparedness Task Force -- may influence a subsequent report to Congress. One idea that crops up often is the need for more disaster preparedness education for children, at the workplace, in communities and among local elected leaders.
