A team of researchers from 16 universities — led by Purdue University — launched a new research center focusing on ways to improve analysis of information relating to natural disasters, terror attacks and other emergencies. The Visual Analytics for Command, Control and Interoperability Environments (VACCINE) center is being funded with a $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and will develop interactive software to help federal, state and local agencies respond to disasters.
