Gov. David Paterson signed a bill on Aug. 30 that allows fire departments in New York to put blue flashing lights on their emergency response vehicles, allowing them to be seen more easily from behind. According to a Firehouse.com report, “the blue lights would be placed to be visible from the rear of fire vehicles, such as chiefs' vehicles, pumps, ladder trucks, apparatuses and ambulances.”
