The interim director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM), Ruben Almaguer, offered Gov. Charlie Crist his resignation in a letter amid allegations of sexism and nepotism, and unapproved spending on a fishing trip in the Bahamas during hurricane season, a specially equipped iPhone and outfitting his state vehicle with law enforcement lights despite not being authorized to do so, The Palm Beach Post reported Tuesday.

Almaguer was appointed interim director of DEM after Craig Fugate was appointed administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
