Mexican and U.S. officials are touting a new system installed by the Mexican border patrol in Tijuana as a bold new attempt to stem the flow of weapons and drugs into the United States, Fresno, Calif., ABC affiliate KFSN-TV reports. Upon arriving at the Mexican side of the border, vehicles are X-rayed and weighed, while the license plate is scanned and checked against a national database. If the light turns green, the crosser can enter the country; if the light turns red, the vehicle is subjected to additional screening.
