A group of elected officials in Texas, including Gov. Rick Perry and Del Rio Mayor Efrain Valdez, are calling for the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles along the state’s border with Mexico in order to stop illegal border crossings. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been using the drones in training missions and testing them for use on the border for years, The Texas Tribune reported.
