Virginia Fire Chief Discusses Achieving Interoperability

Charlottesville, Va., Fire Chief Charles Werner is one of the country's foremost experts on interoperability. Werner serves on Virginia's Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee and as the SAFECOM executive committee chair, advising the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on national communications and interoperability. Werner discussed how state and local agencies can achieve interoperability, the increased functionality and flexibility of future technology and what's necessary to achieve national interoperability.
